There is a lot of talk online about ideal clients & client avatars so I wanted to dive into what this is and how you can apply it to your business.
Firstly what is an ideal client?
An ideal client is someone who you would love to work with ALL the time. You know that favourite client that is an absolute joy to work with? That’s them. As business owners we often get too carried away with working in our business, and not really designing a business we love with people we love to work with so this is where nailing your ideal client comes in.
Let’s look at what makes up your ideal client, we need to really get to know them.
So I want you to grab a notebook and pen and answer the following questions about your favourite client or who you would really love to work with!
- Age
- Education
- Family Status: Married? Kids?
- Position
- Business Type/ Industry:
- Revenue
- Hobbies
- Dislikes
- Where do they hang out?
- Then give your ideal client a name… let’s pretend it’s Lisa.
Here is an example.
Lisa is 38, married, 2 kids, university educated and runs a physiotherapy centre with 5 therapists. Her business turnover is $400k. On the weekends she is found running the kids to their activities. She loves a relaxing massage, green smoothie and occasional chai latte. She dislikes consumerism and really cares for the environment. She likes to hang out with her girlfriends at her local coffee shop or with the family at the beach. She is active in her local business community and on social media.
Who is your ideal client? I would love to know.
Now that you have your ideal client nailed down you can speak directly to her in your marketing. Attract the clients that you truly want to work with and build a business that you love.
